Mutuality, cohesion and development

Abstract

In a society and in a knowledge economy, the competitiveness is based on the attractive capacity, for “talented people”, for companies, for the financial system, for people, for cultures.

All the successful examples have this feature. One of the most important element of the attractive capacity is the COHESION of the “system”. It means that people can recognize themselves in some values, principles and behaviour that all together create a strong and shared identity of living together : the “public spirit”.

People share this value of equality and realized that they can’t live by themselves but they need the other people, they need to know that the other people feel good and every aspect of their lives is tied to the collective.
It’s from this kind of Sociality that the Mutuality started to be required.

Mutuality, since the modern society was born, has always focused on the principal needs : health, necessaries and labour. Even the Constitution asserts mutuality and cooperation like “common goods” and people have to protect and provide incentives for them. Mutuality is fundamental for the social cohesion.
The economical and financial crisis showed the lack of a new declination of the values that come from the principles of equality, freedom and solidarity; the lack of a new “public spirit” and a new mutuality as means of development that focuses on the new emergent needs.
Nowadays labour is the most important factor for people’s social identity and a fundamental right, but sometimes people don’t recognize its characteristics, its subjectivity, that are typical of a common good.
In this context is clearly evident that the competition based on credit and the labour as common good and element of equality become complementary.

How is it possible to organize as a mutual the labour that is changing its nature, its content, its shape so fast? How is it possible to organize as a mutual the workers that change jobs and workplace so often?
Nowadays not only education, but even knowledge is necessary for life.
How is it possible to share, to organize as a mutual, the answer to this need, in what relationship with the State and with the market? For example, why did the innovative Spin off never set up as a cooperative?

Nevertheless there is a sector where sharing is vital : it’s the knowledge based sector. The real values of industries is the “group”, all the entire technological and non-technological knowledge.
